Heart Still Beats

So I have this tendency to make these realizations about the most simple things about myself. One of these such realizations happened this morning and prompted me to begin this blog.

I realized this morning that my heart was still beating. Wow, profound. However, the following thought is what truly got a hold of me. I realized that my heart must still be beating for a reason. (Yes I know that I am one of a very few amount of people who would ask WHY their heart is beating) Regardless, my imagination caught wind of this thought and immediately lauched me into a sequence of thoughts that went a little like this:

1) Hooray for me! My heart is still beating!
2) Oh no, what if it stopped.
3) Oh man, Someone still wants it to be beating.
4) Congratulations Captain Obvious, you have a purpose!
5) Perhaps I should use some of my wasted time to document the journey of this beating heart.

Thus, this blog is born. I do not know what will come of it, but regardless the journey begins.

As a youth pastor and professing Christian, the first answer that comes to mind is that my heart still beats so that I have the physical life to love God and love others. As I am coming to find out, this is far more difficult than anticipated. In fact, ol' boy John Calvin and "total depravity" comes to mind. Hmm...
